The Port of Seattle has begun a new multi-year Part 150 Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study update for SEA Airport this year.

A Part 150 Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study is a voluntary FAA program that sets guidelines for airport operators to document aircraft noise exposure, and to establish noise abatement and compatible land use programs.

To begin these efforts, the Port scheduled three kickoff workshops which took place on June 5, 6, and 8. The workshops were in an open-house format and anyone was encouraged to attend.

About 150 residents attended the three workshops, which took place at three different locations. 42 people showed up at the SeaTac event, which was at Glacier Middle School on Saturday, June 8th.

Councilmember Joe Vinson and Interim City Manager, Kyle Moore, were in attendance to represent the City of SeaTac.

The Phase I process will take 12-18 months. No other public workshops will be held, though there will likely be some targeted outreach to diverse communities.
