Wondering why our district is offering childcare when schools have been closed? Like a lot of things in this public health crisis, it doesn’t seem to make sense on the surface.
Governor Inslee has mandated that school districts provide childcare for healthcare workers and first responders. Public health authorities say this is necessary to ensure our community has enough medical and emergency professionals to take care of everyone who is ill, and they have laid out guidelines to protect the health of adults and children.

Childcare will be staffed by Highline Public Schools employees at a 9:1 ratio and supervised by Highline administrators. Students will be separated into small groups and will rotate throughout the building and outside to minimize contact. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Priority will be given to children of healthcare workers and first responders.
