The African Community Housing & Development team is proud to present the NEW SeaTac Farmer’s Market, starting in July and running through November, 2024.

“We are excited to bring fresh, local, culturally relevant food and goods to the SeaTac area!

We are partnering with our hosts at the Matt Griffin YMCA to launch this once-monthly SeaTac Farmers Market pilot, which will take place on the first Wednesday of each month from 3-7 pm beginning July 3rd thru November 6th.

We are one of the only BIPOC-priority markets in the area, focused on providing culturally relevant food and goods to diverse communities across the south end. Our markets center culture and cultivate community, working to build food security in historic food apartheid zones (or food desert neighborhoods) along with access to holistic health and wellness programming, while eliminating barriers to market access for farmers, chefs, and artisans of color.

We are creating a one-stop-shop for all our neighbors regardless of income to celebrate the seasonal abundance our local farmers and food producers provide. We can’t wait to see you for our grand opening on July 3rd from 3-7 pm!” — ACHD

Each market will offer:

– 50+ local food bags featuring seasonal, primarily organic fruits, veggies, grains, proteins and more – offered freely with no questions asked
– $5 youth bucks to all kids each market to practice healthy shopping habits
– SNAP-EBT matching with the Market Match program
– Free diapers, hygiene, personal care, and home cleaning products, and other basic needs
– A wide range of community organizations offering complimentary resources, programs, and activities
– A wide range of unique, hard-to-find food and goods to purchase from cultures across the globe
– No fees or cut of sales from our vendors, so vendors always keep 100% of their revenues
– ACHD buys back leftover produce from our farmers at full price and distribute freely after each market day

What does it mean to be a “BIPOC Priority Market“? At ACHD, our farmers market model prioritizes BIPOC [Black, Indigenous, Person of Color] farmers, chefs, and artisans who reflect and honor the cultural diversity of Southwest Seattle. At the market you’ll find unique food and goods representing nations from across the globe, along with traditional farmers market staples like local produce and flowers. We are one of the only markets in town taking no fees or a cut of sales from our vendors – everyone keeps 100% of their revenue. We’re building a one-stop shop focused on holistic community care – a space where we can come together to celebrate the abundance our local food producers and makers provide for us while gaining access to community support services. — ADCH
