The City of SeaTac actively works with and helps fund the Small Business Development Center at Highline College to help SeaTac businesses succeed through advising, education and research.

SBDC advisors provide one-on-one, confidential, no-cost advising on all phases of small business development to help develop actionable plans for owners to apply to their business.

Some specific areas SeaTac businesses can receive support in are:

  • how to buy/sell a business,
  • determine how much your business is worth,
  • banking to find/apply for loans,
  • business startup,
  • business growth plans, and
  • international trade & export

Over the past ten years, the Small Business Development Center at Highline College has helped businesses access over $38,000,000 in investment capital, helped create over 700 jobs and helped businesses grow their revenue in excess of $24,000,000.

This year alone the SBDC supported SeaTac businesses directly with: 46 businesses served, 148 one on one sessions, 127 hours of advising, 48 additional businesses participating in online training and 30 hours of individual business training.

The SBDC  is a part of a network of over 30 business experts serving Washington State to help entrepreneurs and small business owners start, grow, and finance their business; and is partly funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Highline College, Soundside Alliance cities including SeaTac, and the City of Federal Way.
