SeaTac has a new Community Engagement Officer, Will Bisesto, who previously worked in Maple Valley as a School Resource Officer.

The city first filled this position in 2021 with Officer Robell Ghrmai, who still works for the city’s police department but in a different capacity.

Bisesto is a retired marine, who served in combat oversees multiple times. After retiring from the armed forces, he decided to become a police officer and has worked for many South King County cities including Burien and in White Center. Bisesto previously worked as a patrol officer in SeaTac years ago, became a detective and then worked for Sound Transit.

When the engagement officer position became available, he knew it would be a great chance to return to SeaTac.

“It seemed like a good fit,” Bisesto said. “There are some people skills you should have as a cop. People usually engage with the police when it’s their worst day. The goal is to regularly interact with the people so that they have positive contact with police too, when it isn’t their worst day.”

He sees a lot of potential in his new role, which he started in November. He has been focusing on getting reoriented with the city, volunteered to serve lunch to the seniors, making connections with local businesses and will start a new coffee with a cop series in the new year.

The first coffee with a cop is Jan. 16 at the SeaTac Community Center from 9 – 11 a.m. This is a free event and a chance for the public to meet and talk to Officer Bisesto and other SeaTac police officers.
